The term "The Four Avenues
of Service" refers to the
four elements that make up a Rotary Club. Namely Club Service, Vocational Service,
Community Service and International Service. These are generally regarded as defining the primary
areas of Rotary activity.
 |
sees to the
efficient and smooth running of the Club and the encouragement of fellowship
within the Club. |
 |
undertakes
work in the community - especially for the aged, the young and the needy -
by being a bridge between the need and the solution. Here it is
usual for Rotary to identify a need, initiate a project to satisfy that
need, see to the smooth operation thereof, and finally to hand the project
over to some external administrative body. Rotary does not look to
administer any one project indefinitely, but rather to act as a
facilitator and to continually seek new challenges. |
 |
seeks to encourage and
foster international understanding and goodwill among people as a basis for
peace among nations. It seeks to find ways to become good neighbours
in the world neighbourhood by filling the gaps in our understanding of
others, as well as in their understanding of us. |
 |
involves all
Rotarians in the propagation of the "maintenance of high ethical
standards in all trades and professions", both by example and by
persuasion. Representation of your classification emphasises the
double challenge that in Rotary you represent your trade or profession,
whilst in your trade or profession you represent the ideals of Rotary. |
