Rotary Membership:
Rotary is non-political, non-sectarian and has no racial or sexual barriers.
It is not a secret organization, nor does it have any hidden agendas. In fact one of
a Rotarian's responsibilities is to assimilate and then disseminate to the
public as much information about Rotary as possible.
Membership of a
Rotary Club cannot be applied for. It is obtained only by invitation. Thus, to be
singled out as a prospective Rotarian of a club is to be paid a high tribute by that club.
The basic "classification" principle of Rotary Club membership is
that each club should have a representative from each major type of trade or profession
within its local community.
It is expected that the nominee will be a person of integrity and a recognized
leader within his or her own field.
Honorary
Membership:
This type of membership is the highest distinction a Rotary Club can
confer on an individual. Honorary membership is proffered for one year only
and must be renewed annually by the Club concerned. Honorary members cannot propose
new club members, do not hold office and are exempt from attendance
requirements and the payment of club dues.
